Bold.
I find the intensity of these shots almost uncomfortable, I think it's what I like so much about them. I've always loved the boldness of short hair. I've talked the talk of going that short but have never had the courage. Someday....maybe.

Peter Lindbergh
Peter Lindbergh's work defined the supermodel era. I've been spending a ton of time sifting through these photos from the early 90's. That's when I first started to read my sister's fashion magazines. I'm finding it interesting to see how the work looks to me now. I think the strength in his photos is what I’m most drawn to. The beauty is so raw and striking it’s no surprise they've remained timeless.

Ready to wear.
I like to be comfortable. So much so that I will try to find ways to make sweatpants stylish. I love this shot as it's a perfect example of how to do just that...really well.

69 Vintage sweater.
Here are some shots of the 69 Vintage sweater I was talking about in my Western Influence post. I love how roomy it is but yet doesn't swallow me whole.

Sheer.
I love the sheer trend but have been only comfortable to experiment with it in blouses. I've seen this sheer skirt in a few style shots and can't help but love it. I think there's a way to make this work without feeling too vulnerable. Maybe boy shorts underneath and a touch longer sweater. Not sure I'd rock the garter belt but this girl is inspiring me nonetheless.

Western influence.
Being from Alberta I definitely have a soft spot for western style, so I'm not surprised this editorial from UK Vogue caught my eye. I thought the grunge influence was super cool too. A refreshing spin on the look. My girlfriend and I bought sweaters yesterday from 69 Vintage (Queen West) that are straight out of this editorial. It's a style that's super easy to snag second hand.

Models Own
In Interview Magazine's 2010 September issue they took seven new models and had them show how they wear this season's key pieces. I loved this editorial. Not only is it my dream closet- Celine, Dries, and Balenciaga - but the layering, the shoes, all the individual styles make it that much more personal and unique. I'm most in love with this first shot. Wings, and Converse.

The unexpected.
An unexpected twist is what makes an outfit to me. This shot from Look Spotter sums that up perfectly. It's no secret I'm a fan of comfort, but seriously, how rad are those shoes?

Our Amish roots.
I stumbled across these images while sifting through old Vogue editorials. I was amazed at some of the similarities in these photos and recent style shots. Yes, fashion often draws inspiration from the past and perhaps our current economic state has people inspired by looks of "simpler living", but still, I had no idea we had such Amish roots in Vogue. | ||||||
