Dress up.

I don't often dress up so I tend to use the holiday season as an excuse to make up for my year round love of casual wear. This Zara number is way too much fun to pass up.

Sheer sport.

I love this delicate sheer and sport combo. Knit is Topshop, sport bra is Nike...obviously.

Diesel.

A cool, comfortable editorial for Diesel. I haven't paid much attention to the brand since the mid 2000s but this is a good reminder to revisit the label.

The grey sweatshirt.

An ode to the grey sweatshirt. Is there anything better? The one piece of clothing I feel my absolute true self in.

Beginners.

    

 

I rented the film Beginners a few days ago and thought it was absolutely fantastic. Beautifully written, stellar performances (Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer) and incredibly touching. Of course, I also couldn't help but notice the clothes.  I was completely mesmerized by the incredibly cool style of actress Mélanie Laurent. It is certainly not the first time I have been in awe of a French actress's wardrobe, but there wasn't one frame in this film where she didn't look perfectly chic. Her hooded pea coat stood out the most for me, especially when worn with her torn up grey sweatshirt and sneaks. I am heading to a vintage shop this weekend to snag one as well as a vibrant kimono. I also loved the cream cotton button up with the black blazer and her killer hat worn unexpectedly with a hooded sweatshirt. Her style was wonderfully effortless and she charmingly repeated pieces throughout the film, an approach to film styling I always adore.

Zara November.

Another incredibly well styled lookbook for Zara. No surprise that the mens look in the first photograph has me already running to the door, if only just to grab that beautiful sheer blue blouse. November can be such a dreary month so I am also thrilled to see so many colorful florals. The button up above is a definite stand out piece for me, I would love to sport that under a leather jacket.

Arm party for one.

The arm candy overload has pushed me to the other end of the spectrum. This photo is a perfect example of a simpler piece making just as strong a statement.

Double scarves.

I came across this shot from Maison Scotch's extremely well styled fall campaign. The double scarves totally caught my eye. I don't think I've seen this look pulled off before but I really really like how it's working here. It's a nice way to incorporate scarves that don't have the warmth you need but are just too pretty to put away for winter.

Carhartt.

Last Thursday in SoHo, Carhartt opened up their first US store of their brother label Carhartt Work in Progress. I am certain we will start seeing this label pop up everywhere given the overwhelming trend of heritage brands these days. Luckily, if you're cool with Carhartt's original pieces you can score them at stores like Mark's Work Wearhouse or Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World . How easy is that?
